How to play
- The snail walks by itself. Tap a shell button to change what its shell is.
- The wheel rolls faster down every hill and jumps; the boat floats on water; the umbrella floats down and rides fans.
- Tap the snail (or pick the plain shell) to close the umbrella and drop straight down.
- Tap levers, gates, lifts and fans to work them.
- Bring the snail and three berries home to the teapot.
- Kids Mode (tap the turtle) slows the world and lets an early tap wait for its moment.
Controls
- Phone or tablet: Tap a shell button on the right, tap the snail for the plain shell, tap a lever, gate, lift or fan to work it. Hold a shell button to preview its path (levels 1-10 and Kids Mode).
- Keyboard: 1 2 3 4 pick a shell, Space plain shell, β β pick a level piece, Enter taps it. Esc pauses.
- Mouse: Click a shell button, the snail or a level piece. Hover a shell button to preview its path (levels 1-10 and Kids Mode).
Tips
- On levels 1-10 and in Kids Mode, hold a shell button to see that shell's path, ending in a tick, a bubble or a turn.
- Pick the wheel at the very top of a hill: each downhill tile makes it faster, so it jumps further off the lip.
- Open the umbrella in the middle of a wheel jump to float to a berry, then tap the snail to drop just where you want to land.
- Clouds that rain on and off can be waited out: the snail hides in its shell and walks on when the rain stops.
About this game
Snail Trip is a cozy puzzle about a snail who walks home to a teapot cottage. The snail walks by itself and never stops, so you never steer it. Instead you change what its shell is: a wheel that rolls faster down every hill and jumps off the end, a boat that paddles across ponds and sails with the wind, or an umbrella that floats gently down, rides the air from garden fans and keeps off the rain. Tap the snail and its shell is plain again: it climbs, it stops at every edge, and closing the umbrella in the air drops it straight down, safe inside its shell.

The trick is where you switch. A wheel picked at the top of the hill flies over the gap; picked halfway down it falls short. An umbrella opened in the middle of a jump turns it into a float, and closing it over a stump lands you exactly there. Levers lower bridges, gates swing open, lifts carry the snail up and down, and clouds rain on a beat. Every level has more than one way home, and three berries to bring with you.
Nothing is ever lost. If the snail touches water in the wrong shell, a bubble carries it gently back to where it left the ground. On the first ten levels, and always in Kids Mode (tap the turtle), you can press and hold a shell button to see exactly where that shell would go. Berries you bring home are planted in the Snail's Garden, which grows while you are away, and every six berries unlock a new shell pattern for My Shells: the shell, the wheel's tire, the boat's hull and the umbrella all wear it.
30 hand-made levels in three worlds: a spring garden with butterflies, a windy hill with kites and rainy rooftops at dusk with fireflies. Each one sounds like its place, from birdsong to rain on the roofs. Free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
