Tip: turn your phone sideways, or tap Full screen, for a bigger game.

How to play

  • Push the stick where the leading end should go. Hits hurt both cars: nose hits cost your engine, your tail is armor.
  • Tap FLIP at speed: the car spins around and slides on tail first. Standing still, FLIP swaps which end leads.
  • Back your tail into a rival's nose: a BACK-IN. It costs his engine, earns x1.5 points and a boost pip.
  • Land a real hit before the clock ring runs out, or your engine overheats. An engine at 0 means you are out.
  • Last car running wins the heat. Cups are three heats; 14 league points open the next Cup.

Controls

  • Phone or tablet: Drag the stick on the left half where the leading end should go. FLIP and BOOST buttons are on the right.
  • Keyboard: W drives the leading end first, S the other end, A D steer, Space FLIP, Shift BOOST, Esc pause. 2 Players: P1 W A S D + Space, P2 the arrows + Enter.
  • Mouse: Point at the floor. Hold the left button to drive the leading end there, the right button for the other end.
  • Gamepad: Left stick where the leading end should go, RT go, LT the other end, A FLIP, B or RB BOOST.

Tips

  • Drive at them nose first, then FLIP when you are about two car lengths away: you arrive tail first at full speed.
  • Watch their smoke. Black smoke means a weak engine: one good back-in into that nose stalls it.
  • Never FLIP right in front of a rival's tail: Smashers wait for the spin and hit your doors.
  • A clean back-in earns a boost pip. Save BOOST to escape a car that is lined up on your nose.

About this game

Reverse Derby is a demolition derby with one rule that changes everything: your engine sits in the nose. Every crash hurts both cars, and where it lands decides who pays. Nose into anything and your own engine takes it. Your tail is armor. So the best hit in the game is the backwards one: drive at a rival nose first, tap FLIP at speed, whip around in a cloud of tire smoke and slam your tail into his nose. Crunch: his engine coughs, your trunk folds, a boost pip lights.

Every car has four panels you can see on the HUD: the engine in the nose, two doors and the tail. A crushed door pulls your car to one side. A crushed panel leaks half of every hit into your engine. The hit clock ring keeps everyone honest: land a real hit every 18 seconds (14 in the Night Cup) or your engine overheats, so nobody can hide in a corner. When an engine hits zero the car stalls, smoking, and the last car running wins the heat.

Five short lessons teach one idea each, from the first crunch to the back-in and the FLIP. Then six Cups of three heats take you from the Scrap Cup against Rookies to the Night Cup under the floodlights against Champions who wait for your FLIP and hit your doors. Ten named drivers each fight their own way: Big Mo hunts the weakest car, Switch flips all the time, Vee drives a Bug with the engine in the tail.

Come back every day for the Daily Derby: the same three heats and the same twist for everyone today, and your best total goes on the leaderboard. The Weekly Cup runs a league of eight for medals that stay forever. Or crash a friend on one device in 2 Players. Win coins in play for new bodies, paints, stripes and horns.

Reverse Derby plays free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, held sideways. Cars only: nobody gets hurt.
