How to play

  • Drive with the left thumb (or WASD). Your tank turns to face where you push.
  • Aim with the right thumb (or the mouse) and hold to fire. Hit sides and backs: front armor blocks part of a hit.
  • A big hit knocks a part off. Drive over a glowing part to bolt it on. Bots grab parts too, so be quick.
  • Shells bounce once off grey steel. Red fuel drums explode, and wrecks stay as cover until they are shot apart.
  • Each mission has a goal: wreck every tank, hold a zone, take a flag, blow up bunkers, escort a truck or steal parts.
  • Stars raise your rank: more armor, more damage and a faster reload. Replay missions to earn them.

Controls

  • Phone or tablet: Left thumb drives; drag the right thumb to aim and fire, tap it for one quick shot; the ⚡ button uses your active parts.
  • Keyboard: WASD drive, ←↑→↓ aim and fire, Space ability, Esc pause.
  • Mouse: Point to aim, hold the left button to fire, right click for the ability.
  • Gamepad: Left stick drives, right stick aims and fires, a bumper or trigger uses the ability.

Tips

  • Never shoot a Heavy in its plated front. Circle to its side, or bank a shell off grey steel into its back.
  • When you knock a part off, drive straight for it: the bots grab anything left lying near them.
  • Lure a crowd next to the red fuel drums, then shoot a drum. Keep your own tank out of the blast.
  • Rocket tank missiles turn after you. Duck behind a wall or a wreck and they hit that instead.

About this game

Scrap Steal Tanks is a top-down 3D tank shooter with one rule that changes every fight: a big hit knocks a part off a tank. The part flies off, lands glowing on the ground, and whoever drives over it first bolts it on. Shoot the heavy plate off an armored tank and wear it yourself. Knock the twin barrel off a brawler and fire two shells a shot. But the enemy tanks know the rule too. Lose your own booster and they will race you for it.

Every tank has six slots: front, sides, barrel, engine, top and back. Twelve parts fill them, from side skirts and a long barrel to a mortar that lobs shells over walls, a shield dome, a repair arm and a mine layer. Your tank changes in your hands from one minute to the next.

The campaign has 30 missions across five zones: a scrapyard, a desert depot, a snowy mountain pass, night docks in the rain and a burning foundry. Each zone mixes up what you do: wreck every tank, hold a zone, capture the flag, blow up dug-in bunkers, escort a supply truck to the exit, steal a quota of enemy parts, and fight bosses that shed their armor plates as they break. Red fuel drums explode, wrecks stay on the field as cover, mud slows you down and ice makes you slide. Scouts flank, heavies keep their armored front toward you, snipers flash a warning line, artillery marks the ground in red and rocket tanks fire homing missiles.

Stars raise your rank, from Recruit to Captain, for more armor, damage and a faster reload, and they open the light and heavy chassis in the Garage. The Daily Arena gives everyone the same map and waves each day for the leaderboard.

Play free in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Cartoon tanks blow up into burnt wrecks and flying scrap: no people and no blood.
