Times Tables Tower

Math & Counting

How to play

  • A times question drops from the sky. Tap the falling block with the right answer.
  • The answer builds as rows of toy blocks: 3 x 4 lands as 3 rows of 4, and your tower grows.
  • A wrong block shows why it does not fit, with a gap or extra cubes in the frame. Nothing is lost.
  • A wide array will not fit the plate? Tap Turn it! to lay it on its side: 3 x 4 is the same as 4 x 3.
  • Kids Mode (tap the turtle) plays the 2s, 5s and 10s with no wrong-answer penalty and a helper that counts for you.
  • Reach the line and the moon comes close. Every level you finish joins your Moon Trip.

Controls

  • Phone or tablet: Tap the block with the right answer (rest a finger on a block to preview it, lift to choose).
  • Keyboard: 1 2 3 4 pick a block, or ← β†’ then Space. R turns the array, Esc pauses.
  • Mouse: Click the block with the right answer.
  • Gamepad: D-pad left and right choose a block, A picks it, X turns the array.

Tips

  • Rest a finger on a block to see its array first. Lift to pick it, or slide away to cancel.
  • Every row of an array has its own color, so count the rows to check an answer.
  • A hollow gap in the frame means the number is too small. Orange cubes sticking out mean it is too big.
  • Stuck? Wait a little: the array counts itself in its frame, and later the cloud glows the right answer.

About this game

A question cloud drifts down from the sky: 3 x 4. Below it, answer blocks float in lanes: 12, 7, 15. Tap the block with the right answer and it unfolds into an array. Three rows of four toy cubes land on your tower one row at a time, each with a rising note and its running count: 4, 8, 12. You do not just remember that 3 x 4 is 12, you see why.

Tap a wrong block and nothing is lost. You see the picture of why it does not fit: the number in a 3 by 4 frame with a gap in it, or too many cubes poking out. The question waits and the falling blocks slow down.

The tower climbs past the clouds, through a sky that turns from day to a starry night, until the friendly moon is close enough to wave. 40 levels walk through the tables: the 2s, 5s and 10s, then the 3s, 4s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 11s and 12s, then mixes. From level 6 a wide array will not fit your plate, so you turn it on its side and meet the big idea that 3 x 4 is the same as 4 x 3. Every level you finish joins your Moon Trip, with a new surprise every five levels.

Kids Mode (tap the turtle) keeps to the easier tables, takes away the wrong-answer penalty and lets a helpful cloud count the array for the child. Nothing in the game can be lost, and nothing ends in a fail screen.
