How to play

  • Tap a caterpillar, then tap a lane arrow (or drag the bug onto it): it eats its own color in a straight line.
  • A different color or a resting body stops it: it rests there, and its body blocks the lane for everyone.
  • Send the bugs in the right order: clear the blocker first, then tap the resting bug to crawl on.
  • A full caterpillar spins a cocoon and flies off as a butterfly. Clean the whole picnic to win.
  • Fewer sends earn more stars. Kids Mode (tap the turtle): bugs back out instead of resting.

Controls

  • Phone or tablet: Tap a caterpillar, then tap a lane arrow around the picnic, or drag the bug onto the arrow. Tap a resting bug to send it on.
  • Keyboard: ↑ ↓ pick a bug, ← → pick a lane, Space sends it. Z undoes, H shows a hint. Esc pauses.
  • Mouse: Click a bug, then click a lane arrow, or drag the bug onto the arrow.
  • Gamepad: d-pad up and down pick a bug, left and right pick a lane, A sends, B undoes, Y shows a hint.

Tips

  • Tap a bug first: every lane arrow then shows how many blocks it would eat, and a green number means it gets full.
  • A bug that eats less than its appetite rests, so count the blocks of its color in the lane before you send it.
  • A resting body shuts its lane: send the bug that clears the blocker before anything else needs that lane.
  • Every send counts toward the stars, even ones you undo, so plan the order before you start.

About this game

A sunny picnic is covered in jelly food blocks, and a line of hungry caterpillars is waiting at the bottom. Can you feed them all?

Tap a caterpillar, then tap a lane arrow around the picnic cloth (or drag the bug onto it). It crawls in a straight line and eats every block of its own color, one cell at a time, growing a little longer with every bite. Every food also has its own pattern, so you never have to rely on color alone.

But watch out. A caterpillar only eats its own color. When it meets a different color, or another caterpillar's body, it stops and rests right there, and a resting body shuts the lane for everyone else! A long, hungry caterpillar parked in the wrong row can block the whole picnic. Send them in the right order, clear the blocker first, then tap the sleepy bug to crawl on.

When a caterpillar has eaten its fill it spins a cocoon and flutters off as a butterfly, and its body clears from the lane. Every butterfly you free joins your Butterfly Garden. Clean the whole picnic and the butterflies dance over the empty cloth.

Before you send a bug, each lane shows how many blocks it would eat, and while you aim, a dotted trail shows where it stops, rests or gets full. The first levels teach with a helping hand. Kids Mode (tap the turtle) is made for younger players: caterpillars back out when they are blocked, hints appear after a short pause and there is never a fail screen. 120 picnics grow from one little row of leaves to big pictures with six foods.
